Do you have a strong brand or a big bland
Does your brand scream look at me and see all that I can do for you, or does it simply invoke a yawn? Do people understand who you are and what you can do for them, or are you just another nameless face in the crowd. If you’re not standing out, people aren’t thinking about you. If they’re not thinking about you they sure as heck aren’t going to buy from you, unless you’re the only game in town. And if that is the case, and you are successful, trust me it won’t be long before someone else comes along to try and take a piece of what you built.
Here’s a quick idea to test the strength of your brand, and its ability to rise to the top. Its a simple 5 step process.
- Find someone in your organization, a son or daughter, college kid, anyone wiling to work cheap.
- Equip them with a clipboard and pen and send them to a busy public area, like a park, playground, event, etc.
- Make them ask 3 questions to anyone they see. A) Can you name 3 businesses in house painting (or whatever your business is.) B) Have you used any of those businesses that you named. C) If you were to hire a house painter today, who would you hire and why?
- Have them record all the answers
- Collect the data.
If you name is not consistently in the top 3, you’re in big trouble. If you’re in the top 3, but not the one chosen to hire, you need to figure out what you need to do to make sure you get there.
If people aren’t thinking of you when asked, you sure as heck know they aren’t thinking of you when it comes time to buy. Make sure you rise to the top and break through the clutter. Get your message out there, now!

It’s a simple yet one of the most effective ways to get out and know how well known is your business. Many big companies are using this method recently with surveys in my area.
